How do I grade student journals?

Instructors can enter grades for Journals for individuals and for groups within the Journal area without having to navigate to the Grade Center, or they can enter them directly in the Grade Center. This enables instructors to enter grades within the Journal so that the grading process is completed in context. All grade entries made within the Journal area are automatically added to the Grade Center.

Click on the course area where you placed the Journals.

You can also see that Joseph has two entries that need to be graded.

Clicking on each student's name will bring you to the Journal entry that needs grading. You will have an opportunity to grade it right there.

Once you've read the entry, you can select (#2), Edit Grade, and then manually enter the grade (# 3), as well as any feedback (#4) you would like to give the student. Grading notes, (#5), are notes to make to yourself about this particular entry, and are NOT visible to the student. In addition, you can comment directly in the journal entry by clicking the comment button (#6).

While you are still on the same screen shot as above, you can move to the next Journal.
